Best Leadership Commitment Award

September, 2010 – Takoma Regional Hospital has earned the “Best Leadership Commitment Award” by QSource for their participation in an extensive pressure ulcer prevention collaborative. Takoma was selected by QSource to participate in the important two-year program, which ended in April.

Q Source, a not-for-profit agency based in Memphis, is an external quality review organization used by many hospitals and healthcare facilities to improve processes of care and increase clinical performance measurements.

“We were honored to be the only hospital in our region chosen to participate,” Marnie Knight, director of Takoma’s medical-surgical unit, said. As a result of the project, Takoma teamed up with Signature Healthcare to monitor any pressure ulcers on patients brought to the hospital. “We achieved the goal of 100 percent participation in admission assessments, daily skin risk assessments and prevention,” Knight said.

The award for “Best Leadership Commitment” was announced earlier this month by QSource. Takoma was the only participating hospital to win the award.
