Since we began our No Wait ER, over 95% of our patients have had their emergency care begin within 5 minutes of arrival! We hope you and your loved ones benefit from our Emergency Department’s timely and professional care as many others in our community have.
What do the times mean?
Emergency Departments, across the United States, use serveral measures to calculate wait times. The two most popular are:
- Door to Triage - the time from your registration to your evaluation by an Emergency Department Nurse. This is when your emergency care begins.
- Door to Provider - the time from your registration to when you are seen by an Emergency Medicine Doctor, Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner.
At Takoma, our goal is to have you seen by an Emergency Room Nurse and have your care begin within 5 minutes of registration. We meet this goal over 95% of the time.
Timeliness of service goes beyond beginning care, so we have another goal - for you to be seen by a Doctor/Provider within 30 minutes of registration. Currently, we meet that goal about 90% of the time. Our average door to Doctor/Provider times are under 12 minutes.
